Board certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Mark Schwartz, is seeing a significant new trend at his Upper East Side plastic surgery practice: breast augmentation surgery is on the rise. While a trusted cosmetic surgery procedure for over 50 years, breast augmentation has shown considerable growth of late.
"It's no secret that breast augmentation is the number-one cosmetic surgery in the US," explains Dr. Schwartz. "What is remarkable is the recent growth we are seeing." Dr. Schwartz's assertions confirm recent data published by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. According to the Society's latest report, there were 307,180 breast augmentation procedures performed in 2011, alone. Compared to the 2010 figure, that indicates a remarkable 4% growth in just one year.

"For starters, I think that patients have renewed confidence in breast implants themselves. Gone are the days of the FDA moratorium and the subsequent media onslaught." Dr. Schwartz also explains that "More importantly, breast augmentation carries a notably high degree of patient satisfaction."
