Employment solicitors ThomasMansfield LLP will be using the summer to prepare for what is anticipated to be an extremely busy winter and spring this 2011 and 2012.
The firm, which specialises in employment law, from compromise agreement cases to contract enquiries and unfair dismissal, is expecting the employment industry to adjust slowly to changes in legislation.
The latest legislation to be changed is the Agency Workers Regulations, due to come into effect on 1 October 2011. This law is intended to give more rights to temporary workers who contribute to a company through a hirer. Individuals will be awarded similar privileges as those in the equivalent permanent position, employed directly by the company in question.
ThomasMansfield’s company blog called this summer the ‘calm before the storm’, suggesting that winter 2011 and early 2012 will be full of activity as businesses and employees catch up with the changes.
These legislative changes will perhaps most profoundly affect the guidelines, contracts and legal terminology used by large employers.
