Proudly, a "Thin Blue Line" flag - the black, white and blue Stars and Stripes tribute to police officers who have died in the line of duty is traveling across the country, courtesy of Meiborg Bros Inc., a trucking and logistics company headquartered in Rockford, Illinois.
The semi-truck and trailer pays tribute specifically to fallen police officer Jaimie Cox. "Jaimie was a great employee, police officer and friend. We were sad to hear of the tragedy that occurred late last year to him and his family and our team here at Meiborg took this loss to heart. Out of pain and suffering came a great idea to honor Jaimie while showing respect to all those who risk their lives everyday protecting our communities," according to Zach Meiborg, President of Meiborg Bros Inc.
Cox's name and the date of his EOW - "end of watch" - appear next to the flag on a broad black background. The flag, emblazoned on a Wabash DuraPlate trailer that is being pulled by a 1986 Peterbilt 362, pays homage to Jaimie Cox, a Rockford policeman that was killed on November 5, 2017 during a traffic stop. Before joining the city's police force in 2016, Cox was a shop foreman at Meiborg's corporate office in Rockford, IL. For several years Jaimie worked successfully helping the company grow to become one of the largest trucking companies in the Rockford region.
The semi and trailer have garnered much attention in the news and on social media. Recently in a speech on the Illinois house floor, Congressman Adam Kinzinger said, "Jaimie Cox spent his life dedicated to serving and protecting others. On a daily basis, he risked his life to help others and he gave the ultimate sacrifice protecting our community." Jaimie was a loving husband, son, brother, uncle, and friend. Jaimie touched the lives of all of those who met him and will be deeply missed.
