In order to mark the beginning of both spring and the new lunar year, Vietnamese Lunar New Year, often called as “Tet Nguyen Dan” is celebrated annually buzzing with lion dances, firecracker shows, games, etc. The Festive Season “TET” Vietnam Tour marks this occasion of great festivity portraying customs and entertainment that have distinct Vietnamese cultural characteristics from the North to the South.
Most cities in Vietnam put on a massive fireworks display at the New Year Eve or The Giao Thua, the most sacred point of time. In Tet Holiday, the color of red and yellow can be seen everywhere. As symbols of Tet, in the North the warm pink of the peach could very well match the dry cold, but in the South the hot weather seems to be flourishing in the riot of the yellow of the apricot; otherwise a pot of Kumquat is displayed. On the occasion of Tet, the “Cau Doi” or Parallel is written on red paper and hung on both sides of the pillars or the ancestral altars. A plate filled with five types of fruits sits on the altar giving a cozy and colorful look.
The Vietnamese expression “an Tet” literally means “eat the Tet” and also embraces the meaning of eating in a very important role. Uniquely in Vietnam, the Square Cake is the main food for Tet holiday. Invented by Prince Lang Lieu from King Hung Dynasty, it symbolizes the Earth and can last long for days in the severe weather of Vietnam. It is made from glutinous rice, mung bean and pork, added with many other ingredients. As a Tet cannot-be-missed dish, pickled onions bring typical aromatic, crispy and sour taste and go well with the Square Cake. Another traditional food is Gio Cha (Vietnamese sausage), usually served with the Square Cake or Xoi (sticky rice). Mut Tet (candied fruits), often placed at the table in the living room, is served to welcome guests.
For new arrivals in Vietnam at this special spring festival, Grand Hotel Saigon is the first perfectly welcoming in The Festive Season “TET” Vietnam Tour. Nestled in Saigon’s scenic riverside, it offers warm inviting atmosphere and host of fine services making every stay the most enjoyable one. At the centre of Mekong Delta, Victoria Can Tho Resort lies on the banks of the Hau River, featuring comfortable room with wood flooring, authentic Vietnamese decoration and balconies offering spectacular views of the river. In Hoi An, your time will become more memorable with a stay at Vinh Hung Riverside Resort & Spa. Just 5-minute walk to the ancient town, its elegantly designed rooms are set in the coconut-tree-shaded gardens. In the heart of Hue downtown, Moonlight Hotel is a new luxury brand hotel providing delightful Deluxe River View with outstanding views of Huong River from their private balcony. As a symbol of Ha Long Bay’s legendary beauty, you will have chance to make an amazing journey on board Victory Cruise. Your Tet vacation comes to an end in Hanoi with 3 night stay at Lan Vien Hotel, the perfect combination of modern luxuries and impeccable service.
