Future Electronics, a global leading distributor of electronic components, has added a video to its website, showing how to "Speed Up Your Time to Market with Harvesting Platform Featuring Renesas RL78."
The Renesas RL78 video discusses Renesas Electronics' ultra low power and ultra cost effective RL78 series of microcontrollers that are featured in the Future Energy Solutions Energy Harvesting Platform.
The Future Energy Solutions Energy Harvesting Platform is a leading edge, highly customizable energy harvesting application development and analysis tool. The modular design of the platform allows engineers to use the system in a wide variety of custom configurations to test different methods of energy generation, recharge circuitry, energy storage, and their own unique end applications. While the system comes with its own group of modules, Future Energy Solutions can help customize modules for customer designs to meet their specific needs.
With the PC run Energy Harvesting GUI which displays the entire energy chain, the platform gives designers full real time visibility into every aspect of system performance including power generated, voltage and current levels at every stage, and overall system efficiencies. Data logging functions allow this platform to measure the effectiveness of the design of an energy harvesting system in real life conditions, while GUI controlled relays allow users to have full control of each system block and inherent system protection.
The RL78 family of microcontrollers are 16-bit single-chip microcontrollers with enhanced peripherals, high Dhrystone MIP rating, wide operating voltage range of 1.6V to 5.5V, low power modes, and aggressive price structure, allowing engineers and designers to implement many configurations of power conversion, control and communication in any system with just a few milliamps of input current. This feature allows users to build compact and energy-efficient systems at a lower cost.
