When a person has missing teeth, he or she can face numerous obstacles, including difficulties eating or speaking, and a lack of self-confidence. Fortunately, Dr. Jeffery D. Cummings offers high-quality dentures for patients who have either removed or lost teeth, due to dental issues such as periodontal disease, or tooth decay.

Dr. Cummings, of Restore Teeth in Waltham, Massachusetts, has extensive experience in the creation and placement of dentures. He strives to create dentures that look natural and fit each patient comfortably. Since the dentures are created on-site, Dr. Cummings is able to guarantee patients a truly unique, high-quality product that suits their individual needs.

Dentures are removable prosthetic devices, usually made of plastic, which replicate the appearance of gum tissue and natural teeth. Dr. Cummings creates dentures by first making an impression of the patient's jaw, and then assessing what denture color, shape, and fit is best for each patient. Although dentures are created to fit each patient perfectly, some patients prefer to use a dental adhesive to reinforce the stability of the denture while they wear it.

Dr. Cummings explains that there are two types of dentures available- complete dentures, and partial dentures. Complete dentures are created for patients who are missing all of their teeth, while partial dentures are used for patients who still have some of their natural teeth in either the lower or upper jaw. According to Dr. Cummings, complete dentures can either be "conventional" or "immediate." Immediate dentures can be placed as soon as all teeth are removed, while conventional dentures are placed only after all teeth have fallen out or been removed. Partial dentures, meanwhile, consist of replacement teeth attached to pink-colored plastic bases. The partial denture usually has metal or plastic framework, which "clips" onto the remaining teeth, and holds the denture firmly in place.

Dr. Cummings says that while dentures have many advantages, including improving one's appearance and restoring the ability to eat and speak comfortably, they may not be for everyone. For patients who want permanent, non-removable dentures, Dr. Cummings instead recommends dental implants. He adds, however, that his patients are extremely satisfied with their natural-looking dentures, which can be worn comfortably for many years, with proper care.

Dr. Cummings works hard to provide all of his patients with personalized care, and takes pride in enhancing their smiles. For more information, or to schedule a consultation, you can contact Dr. Cummings by phone 781-894-4114 or through his website, www.restoreteeth.com.
