There's a huge debate raging among physicians- and it is about chiropractic therapy. Is it valid, or not? San Diego based chiropractor Dr. Keith Jeffers aims to answer some of common myths related to the debate.
"You can't really paint all chiropractors with the same brush, as not all of them are the same. Every year millions of dollars are spent on research and new information. Genuine chiropractors spend hours in understanding this information and incorporating it in their treatment plan. We support evidence based treatment," says Dr. Jeffers. He has more than 25 years of experience as San Diego's premier chiropractor and sports injury doctor.
Treatments such as spinal manipulation, soft tissue therapy, laser therapy are undertaken after thorough assessment and examination. And to aid the treatment, rehabilitative exercises are also suggested.
"Chiropractors use SMT or Spinal Manipulation Therapy. This therapy is used not only by us, but also by other practitioners. But the most important thing to do is to understand between problems that can be addressed by a Chiropractor and those that can be addressed by a physician. If a chiropractor tells you that he can cure all your problems, and that you need not consider conventional treatment at all, he is more than likely to be a quack," adds Dr. Jeffers.
Dr. Jeffers can help patients with sports related injuries, low back pain, running injuries, neck pain, joint pain, wrist pain, shoulder pain, hip pain, sciatica, shin splits, lower leg injuries, plantar fasciitis, muscle spasms, whiplash, carpel tunnel syndrome, etc. But there are many other problems that can be addressed only by a trained physician. The trick is in understanding whom to opt for treatment.
