Fraxel is an innovative laser treatment used to improve the appearance of damaged skin for a younger, more refreshed and rejuvenated look. Fraxel treatments can target damaged or aging skin and help uncover healthy skin by encouraging new cells to surface. Fraxel provides dramatic results for even the most severely damaged skin—and often these results can be achieved in just one short treatment session.
"I've been using Fraxel lasers in my practice for the last eight years," says dermatologist and Fraxel expert Dr. Roger H. Stewart of Florida's Skin Center. These treatments provide superior results to older, more invasive treatments for a range of skin issues. Fraxel treatment is safe, minimally to non-invasive, and helps to expose fresh, healthy youthful skin. Working beneath the skin's surface, Fraxel reverses the signs of aging by addressing like fine lines, visible photoaging, wrinkles, scarring and age spots.
Fraxel's light energy naturally stimulates new collagen growth—this collagen re-growth will smooth wrinkles and creases, as well as scars.
Fraxel is so gentle it can be used on the entire face, or just as targeted treatment for specific areas. Dr. Stewart has worked with both forms of Fraxel: Fraxel Repair and Fraxel Restore.
Fraxel Repair is a minimally invasive procedure that tightens and resurfaces skin with notable results. Fraxel Repair can help to eliminate even severe skin damage including wrinkles, acne scars, surgical scars, age spots, sunspots, hyperpigmentation, and actinic keratoses. Fraxel Repair is performed using local anesthesia, and recovery time is generally 5-7 days. Results are often softer, brighter, better toned skin. Over approximately 3 to 6 months new collagen is created showing a completely rejuvenated face.
The second form of the treatment is Fraxel Restore. For less severe cases, Fraxel Restore achieves striking results over the course of a number of treatments.
Fraxel Restore uses different wavelengths to address a range of damage, including melasma, slight scars and very fine lines. Fraxel recently created an additional wavelength aimed specifically for the treatment of brown spots including age spots, sun spots and hyperpigmentation as well as precancerous lesions. Patients are generally able to return to their daily routine immediately following treatment—giving the treatment the convenience of no downtime.
Whatever the patient's skin goals are they should consider non invasive Fraxel before considering surgery or other invasive procedures, says Dr. Stewart. "You owe it to your skin to look into Fraxel. With a track record of over 800,000 treatments, Fraxel will help."
