Just in time for the scorching heat of the summer months hyperhidrosis sufferers finally have options. Hyperhidrosis is a disorder marked by excessive sweating, more than that is necessary to regulate the body's temperature, according to Pacific Dermatology's director Dr. Jennifer Reichel.

Sweating is the body's way of cooling down. It is a normal response to heat or exercise; however, excessive sweating, called axillary hyperhidrosis, can present problems for some people. Sufferers with persistently sweaty armpits may have to contend with the unpleasant odor that results from the bacterial breakdown of sweat and cellular debris (bromhidrosis).

Ultherapy, a skin tightening ultrasound treatment has been found to work for axillary hyperhidrosis patients.

"It's incredible how well it is working for that," says Dr. Reichel of the treatment.

Ultherapy is a completely non-invasive procedure that can reduce or totally eliminate excessive underarm sweating in a single treatment. Using proven, safe ultrasound energy, like those used during sonograms, we can treat excessive underarm sweating with Ultherapy.

Ultherapy can permanently reduce excessive sweating. Using a local anesthetic to treat each armpit—results are evident in between 1-4 sessions.

Ultherapy targets overactive sweat glands in the underarm using ultrasound energy. This energy is directed into the layer of skin where these glands are located. Ultherapy systematically destroys the glands which can provide reduction in excessive sweating. Sweating is typically reduced immediately.
