Dr. Mark Schwartz, Manhattan plastic surgeon explains the increase in males opting for plastic surgery
New York, NY, United States of America (sardnews.org) 31/07/2013
The world of plastic surgery, once thought of as a woman's realm, has opened its doors to the male population. Data from the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery says nine percent of all cosmetic procedures in 2011 were done on men—a statistic that shows a staggering 121 percent rise since 1997. The most common procedures for men in 2011 included liposuction, rhinoplasty, eyelid lift, gynecomastia (male breast reduction), otoplasty (ear reshaping), and facelift. The most common non-surgical procedures were BOTOX, laser hair removal, skin care treatments including laser resurfacing and peels, and injectable fillers such as Juvéderm.

Other procedures men opt for include chin implants for a masculine strong jawline or neck liposuction for more definition in the face. Often men are not forthcoming about their procedures so Dr. Schwartz's minimally invasive/faster recovery options fit perfectly into the busy male life.

There are a number of reasons that men have become a viable force in the plastic surgery economy—most experts say that a highly competitive job market as well as our society being preoccupied with youth has driven many men to want to look and feel their best.

Dr. Schwartz takes the time during every pre-operative consultation at his practice in New York City to learn what patients want to achieve and will help you to decide which procedure will help you meet these specific goals.
