Dr. Jeff J Mollins has been practicing for 25 years in downtown Brooklyn, specializing in the treatment of patients injured in accidents. When treating patients hurt in accidents (whether it is an on the job accident-Workers Compensation, automobile accident-No Fault, slip and fall accident, construction accident, or any other) a comprehensive, effective, treatment regimen is needed for our patients to achieve wellness. Along with chiropractic spinal manipulation, Dr Mollins has many other "weapons" in his arsenal of therapeutic modalities in order to help his patients achieve good health as quickly, and painlessly as possible. In conjunction with chiropractic care, Dr. Mollins utilizes various forms of physiotherapy as part of his effective therapeutic regimen. Physiotherapy, is extremely important when treating injured patients to decrease pain and expedite the healing process. Here are some of the therapeutic physiotherapy modalities utilized in Dr Mollins'office:
Cold Packs-Cold therapy or cryotherapy is used to treat mostly acute injuries. This type of therapy will constrict blood vessels (vasoconstriction).and cause a decrease in inflammation. The result of this is that pain and swelling will be diminished.Hot Packs-Heat therapy is used more often on chronic injuries. It relaxes tight muscles causing tissues to relax. This decreases pain caused by muscle tension or spasms. It also causes vasodilation of the blood vessels which increases circulation to the area and promotes healing.
Ultrasound-This is a modality that uses high or low frequency sound waves. These sound waves are transmitted to the surrounding tissue and vasculature. They penetrate the muscles to cause deep tissue/muscle warming. This promotes tissue relaxation and is useful in treating muscle tightness and spasms. The warming effect of the sound waves also causes vasodilation and increased circulation to the area that assists in healing.
Electrical Stimulation-Uses an electrical current to cause a single muscle or group of muscles to contract. By placing electrodes on the skin in various locations, Dr. Mollins can recruit the appropriate muscle fibers to contract which can help strengthen the affected muscle.Contracting the muscle via electrical stimulation can also promote blood supply to the area and thus assist in healing.
All these various forms of physiotherapy can be combined together along with chiropractic spinal manipulation and exercise to provide an extremely comprehensive, beneficial treatment regiment. As always, Dr Molins goal is for his patients to achieve wellness, quickly and painlessly. Dr. Mollins" philosophy is to do "whatever it takes" to get his patients healthy..
