On this year's Valentine's Day edition of 'The Dr. Oz Show,' Dr. Oz enlisted the expertise of 50 of today's top doctors throughout a variety of medical specialties. Each offered important health and beauty advice, including New York and New Jersey-based board certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Robert Morin, who discussed topical CoQ10. Dr. Morin took a moment to explain this important enzyme, detailing its patient-side benefits.
"Coenzyme Q10, or CoQ10, is an enzyme that is produced and found in the human body," Dr. Morin explains. "It helps to produce energy while also acting as an antioxidant, protecting the body from harmful substances." CoQ10, Dr. Morin went on to explain, can also be found in a number of foods, like various meats, fish, oils, and fruits and vegetables.
"While CoQ10 is naturally produced in the body, our supply reduces with age, and can decrease with other factors like stress and disease," explains Dr. Morin. "With a diminished amount of this enzyme being produced, cells cannot regenerate or withstand stress as easily as they would be able to in a younger or healthier body."
When asked about how CoQ10 can positively impact our skin, Dr. Morin offered this: "CoQ10 is available in a number of different over-the-counter forms, including a supplement and a topical cream. Using a high-strength cream with CoQ10 can potentially help to fight the signs of aging skin."
Asked to comment on his recent television appearance, Dr. Morin finished with this: "Appearing on The Dr. Oz Show was a great opportunity to introduce men and women throughout the country to CoQ10, an enzyme with several important skin benefits. I encourage anyone interested to contact my office and find out more."
