Future Electronics, a global leading distributor of electronic components, has released an etech alert introducing the AS3935 Franklin Lightning Sensor™ from ams, the world's first lightning sensor IC with distance-to-storm estimation.
The Franklin Lighting Sensor detects both ground-strike and cloud-to-cloud lightning, with distance to storm calculation starting from 40km down to 1km, while rejecting disturbances from man-made signals such as motors and microwaves.
With multiple low power modes, a listening mode current consumption of 60 microamps and housed in a 4mm x 4 mm 16-pin package, the AS3935 can be easily integrated into a variety of portable or outdoor devices such as golf carts, watches, handheld GPS devices, as well as permanent installations like weather stations, pools, and sporting venues.
More details about the AS3935 Franklin Lightning Sensor, as well as an informational video, can be found at: http://www1.futureelectronics.com/mailing/etechs/AMS/etech_AMSAS3935/default_na.html
For additional information about the AS3935 lightning detector, lightning sensor, lighting detection system, as3935 Franklin Lightning Sensor, integrated circuits, and lightning monitor, along with access to the world's largest available-to-sell inventory, please visit www.FutureElectronics.com.
