For patients struggling with stubborn, exercise-resistant fat, many will assume that a newer liposuction technique always means a better cosmetic result. New York City's Dr. Mark Schwartz challenges that notion, explaining how power-assisted liposuction remains one of the safest, most effective means for permanent fat reduction.
"While liposuction is not intended as a weight loss solution, it can be an invaluable tool for those struggling with stubborn fat that is resistant to diet and exercise," explains Dr. Schwartz. "Many patients find it difficult, however, to decide which type of liposuction procedure is right for them."
With several types of new, branded liposuction procedures available, Dr. Schwartz explained how there is a tendency for patients to assume that the latest techniques are inevitably the best techniques. "Facing a myriad of choices, what's important for patients to understand is that power-assisted liposuction continues to offer a remarkable degree of safety and efficacy."
Explaining how the procedure works, Dr. Schwartz offered this: "Combining the benefits of tumescent liposuction with a special, rapidly-vibrating cannula, power-assisted liposuction - or 'PAL' - works to break up fat cells for easy, precise removal."
Asked to speak on potential benefits of the PAL technique, Dr. Schwartz reports that there are several. "Firstly, compared to traditional liposuction, the PAL technique is remarkably gentle and tends to result in less bruising and insult to surrounding tissue," explains Dr. Schwartz. "The procedure has an impressive track record of safety with a low incidence of complications and shorter operative times."
Asked to speak on the future of the PAL technique, Dr. Schwartz concluded with this: "Despite the myriad of new or highly-advertised liposuction techniques available, we are confident that power-assisted liposuction is here to stay. We base this on the procedure's safety, consistent results and its countless numbers of satisfied patients."
