Expanding indie developers Kwalee have bolstered the ranks once again this month with talented programmer David Smithson joining the team. Kwalee are going from strength to strength right now with a noticeable increase in media attention surrounding the release of the third game - Farm Fighters and the imminent update to their second title Pussy Flip, soon to be re-named and re-launched with some significant new features on the 29th January 2013.
David's academic record speaks for itself, joining the team with a first-class honours degree in Computer Science from the University of Durham having graduated top of his year three years running, and top of the entire science faculty in his first year.
David's main academic areas of interest include research into the use of virtual environments for scientific and historical simulation, and serious games for education and brain training, an area of his expertise Kwalee are looking forward to seeing integrated into future projects.
Over the coming months David will be working closely with Gameplay Guru Andrew Graham on the much anticipated 'Project Teapot' and Kwalee hope he can bring yet more creativity and innovation to a game that's already looking like it will excite mobile and tablet users worldwide.
"I'm excited to be joining such a creative and talented team of people, working with Andrew Graham and David Darling is obviously appealing and the creative buzz present in the office on a daily basis is what really sealed it for me. I just can't wait to get stuck in!" David Smithson
David has been developing and releasing computer games in a variety of genres for over ten years through his own independent channel - HiVE. Here David has been in the majority responsible for the design, programming, sound editing and hand drawn graphics on all projects showing his immense creativity and attention to detail.
Having recently returned from an eighteen month stay in Japan where he became completely addicted to sushi he is eager to get going with Kwalee. His arrival is yet another sign from this indie studio that they mean serious business and see themselves riding what some are speculating to be 'tough times ahead' and come out the other side having delivered exactly what they promised - fun, multiplayer games.

About kwalee.com
“I’d love to work in games, but I'm not sure in which area yet. I'm enjoying the testing experience and I also believe I have art skills that I could develop into a career. I’ve always been a big fan of Halo, so designing a successful character like Master Chief would be amazing.” Jessie and John Darling have been assiduously testing Kwalee’s next game release, Pussy Flip, available on the Apple App Store next week.
