Millennium, one of the newest and most edgy groups to hit the pop music scene, announced the release of their first single 'Beach Anthem' today. It's a suitable title given that the song transports you to a world of sun, surf and sand with its infectious pop melody and cool reggae groove. An added bonus to this feel-good first single is that it features platinum artist Baby Bash, whose distinctive voice has become synonymous with girls, good times and nonstop fun.
Initially this talented group from Los Angeles had a tough time choosing their debut single from among their portfolio of songs which blend catchy hooks, acoustic instrumentation and occasional hip-hop flavor. But with an extended summer season of triple-digit heat and the beach on everyone's mind, 'Beach Anthem' seemed to be the natural choice. According to Sapphire, one of the singers for Millennium, "This song is for beach lovers all around the world, whether on Venice Beach or the coast of Nice."
Stryker, composer, producer and singer for Millennium, draws his inspiration from many popular 80s acts such as Genesis, Starship and Hall & Oates who consistently created songs with interesting melodic structure and enduring pop appeal. These are qualities that fans are likely to hear in the debut single 'Beach Anthem' with its playful lyrics and infectious melody produced from a natural mix of vocals, guitars, keyboards and horns. If this song is just the tip of the musical iceberg as some critics have intimated, Millennium may very well be bringing something back to popular music that has long been missing in an era of repetitive and forgettable beats and sound bites.
Millenium's sound is not the only thing garnering attention. In addition to Stryker, who resembles Vin Diesel straight out of Babylon AD, there's Sapphire, a petit blue-haired Asian anime with a sweet voice and playful persona, K-King, a muscular 6' 2" former gospel and R&B singer, and Adonis, an alien drummer - four talented and unique personalities who happened to collide in a popular Los Angeles nightclub one year ago.
Now, this colorful group of characters appears to be on a collision-course with success, beginning with their first single 'Beach Anthem', which will soon hit airwaves across the nation. Within a few short months, don't be surprised if 'Beach Anthem' becomes the chorus sung over barbeque and bonfire pits everywhere.
