Bournemouth, Dorset, United Kingdom (sardnews.org) 18/07/2012
"After years of violence, Janet S Rogers had moved out of the marital home with her two children to stay with a female friend for a few weeks. Her husband phoned early in the evening feeling down an lonely, she took pity on him; suggesting he come round for a drink with her and 3 friends; 2 females and a male. After a few drinks and laughs she suggested he stay, he'd said he felt much better and insisted on driving the few streets home. With a kiss goodbye, she watched him drive away.

No one could have predicted what happened next. A few minutes past; there was a knock at the door,

'Who is it' she asked

'Only me, I forgot my cigarettes'

Janet opened the door, her husband head butted her in the face! Dazed, she turned to run, he picked up a pick axe handle and began swinging it after her, smashing the glass in the doors. Janet shouted to her friends

'Get the kids out'

They didn't need telling twice. He was behind her with the pickaxe handle across her throat tight, when she saw her children being led down the stairs. It didn't matter so long as they were safe, the axe handle being squeezed harder when her male friend was stood holding a hammer shouting

'Let her go',

'Go on, I guarantee you'll hit her first' replied her husband.

She seemed to black out, next she knew, she was on the floor and he was smashing the doors just above her showering her in glass.

Her husband growled 'Look what he's done to me'

And as blood dripped down from his head, he began kicking her only stopping when the police walked in.

'Mr .....?'

'No, right house, wrong person' her husband retorted.

Janet struggled to her feet, feeling her stomach and in her head apologising to her unborn child, but at least he had missed the opportunity to kick her in the stomach. Hopefully the baby was okay and shaking glass from her clothes she noticed the lacerations on her legs.

He wasn't so lucky, this time with a gash to his head needing 7 stitches, he must've been hit with the hammer. An ambulance waited to take them to hospital, Janet refused to travel with her husband. So another was sent for. She asked her friend to look after the kids,

"tell them I'm okay and I love them, I won't be long."..."
