The Britain for Events campaign recently received a nod and applaud from the Prime Minister David Cameron when he backed its work for the industry.

The Prime Minister sent a letter to the campaign saying that he applauded the work carried out by the UK events industry and in the UK, particularly in the work it does to promote Britain.

The Prime Minister is the latest minister within the government to support the UK event industry's promotional campaign. Other ministers applauding the UK events industry include Nick de Bois MP, chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Events and John Penrose, minister for tourism and heritage.

The campaign hosted the briefing Events in the Community at the House of Commons on 5 September. More than 20 MPs along with government policy makers attended the event.

Britain for Events was held at Savoy Place, London. Its latest campaign was attended by over 100 events industry professionals and representatives from UK Sport, the Tourism Alliance, destination management companies and the UK Border Agency.

Chris Perkins runs Cue Media in Birmingham and London, helping a range of businesses in the UK, Europe and beyond to design and stage eventsfrom small meetings to major corporate events and everything in between at some of London's major corporate event venues. He says:

"I hope that Britain for Events continues to drive the campaign forward in a way that benefits the entire events industry. The best thing David Cameron and the government could do to support the industry further would be to offer incentives for companies outside of the UK to hold events in the UK.

"The events industry is directly proportionate to the economy and as such the events industry is unlikely to show growth until the economy does so too. It is great that the Prime Minister supports our industry but it is ultimately his policies and his growth plan that hold the real power to boost the events industry in any significant way."
