In 1984 Bob Richter and co-owner Steve Dunefski joined forces and left their jobs selling coffee for others, in 1994 they opened their own facility. Over the next 3 decades they were able to grown Empire and now Waterfront into one of the largest roasters of select coffees in the New York area, one of the toughest coffee markets in the country.
